Lennox Introduces its New Line of Solar Home Energy Systems

Lennox, a leader in energy efficient air conditioners and heat pumps has announced a new line of home energy systems that are solar ready. The line is named “SunSource Home Energy Systems” and the systems are available in Central Florida at Greens Energy Services. The systems are unique because they are scalable. The air conditioners and heat pumps can be used with or without solar panels. They can use as few as one solar module or as many as 15 solar modules.

The main building block of the SunSource system is a high efficiency air conditioner or heat pump that is compatible with solar equipment. The air conditioner or heat pump can be hooked up to solar panels upon installation or at a future time.

The solar modules are configured differently than typical photovoltaic panels. Instead of having one inverter for the system each SunSource module has a micro inverter which allows the system to be expandable for scale. So, a homeowner can start out with one module and expand it to 15 modules as their budget permits.

The system is designed first to meet the heating and cooling demands of a home since 56% of a homes energy cost comes from heating and cooling. When your homes heating and cooling system is not in use the solar energy produced by your solar panels can be used to operate appliances and electronics. Excess energy can be sent to your power company which should reduce your utility bill.

Depending on the number of modules a home has a SunSource Home Energy System should save between 58% and 91% of your homes air conditioning costs. The systems also qualify for Federal Tax credits through the end of 2010.
