Federal Rebate for Energy Star rated HVAC systems extended through 2011
As part of the tax deal passed by Congress and approved by the President, the federal tax credit for energy efficient air conditioning/ heating systems will be extended through 2011. However the tax credit per household will be reduced to $500 or a third of the previous credit. Instead of receiving a 30% rebate up to $1500, it will be reduced to 10% up to $500.
Qualifying HVAC efficiency levels will remain the same as the prior tax credit as mandated by the Federal Tax Credits for Consumer Energy Efficiency Guidelines found at energystar.gov, except for boilers or oil heaters.
